Talk:Christchurch1828.org
From Wikidweb
I searched and found this site URL and copied the previous listing to here. I then deleted the original listing. Is this the correct way to correct a URL? How do I find the "Needs Attention" category page again (other than through the "Recent Changes" log?
I also emailed the minister of this church from a Episcopal Directory and asked them to confirm the URL.

This is taking some doing....
I emailed the church via an email address found on the Alabama Episcopal Diocese page. The URL on that listing went to a 404 and then the emailed bounced (bad address). I then found this website URL and tried to email them, the email link was improperly coded. ha!! That's what I get for tackling the "Needs Attention" entry.

I know this site's URL
The url should be (link blocked - not on whitelist) . --Ryan 20:51, 5 Apr 2005 (PDT)
That URL doesn't work
It returns a "Can not find server" error.
<added later>I ran a whois on churchchrist1828.org and it is available (not registered).
<added still later>I just received an email from Dan the webmaster of the church site and will try to get this sorted out today.
PS. Aerik, if we find a new URL for this listing. Can we actuall move this listing? Or do we make a new one via "Add" and the copy everything over and then delete this one (as I have done before)? If we move it, does it use a redirect? If so, what type of redirect is it? 301 or 302?

Moving pages...
Honestly, guys, you have gone above and beyond whatever I pictured! I did a google search and came up with a few matches, and beyond that was going to wait to see if the IP address that registered it came back. If nothing happened in a few weeks, I figured we'd delete it. Of course, it would be waaaay better to find the right url (I added some basic url logic to the to-do list - make the entry form check that it's at least "something.tld"). Using the "move page" command actually does create a new record and I'm 99% confident that it redirects internally - no 301 or 302. However, the internal redirect does not reflect the correct url (the url is always the pagename that's shown in the address http://www.wikidweb.com/wiki/'''pagename''') and I haven't been able to figure out how to fix this (think it's already on the to-do list) so generally we should move a page, then delete the old one. Sound okay? --Aerik Sylvan 10:26, 6 Apr 2005 (PDT)
That was easy!
Thanks for the info, Aerik!!! I was moving pages by creating new pages and then copy and pasting the info. Do regular users have the "Move" function? --webseo 10:47, 6 Apr 2005 (PDT)
I have the ability to move something
So I would guess yes. --Ryan 10:48, 6 Apr 2005 (PDT)
I now see the original (sorta) problem - ALL FIXED!!!
Ryan you were dyslectic in your original post above and I didn't catch that. Churchchrist vs. Christchurch. I finally got it fixed....Wheew!! This was a tough one! Thanks Aerik and Ryan for all the info. --webseo 10:58, 6 Apr 2005 (PDT)
